Thunderbird is the default E-mail application in Ubuntu and in all the flavors of Ubuntu, it will be automatically installed as part of the operating system.
But in case that you decide to install Ubuntu with the Minimum option or decide to remove and re-install Thunderbird we have below is the process of installing it.
You can use the Software Store for Ubuntu to install Thunderbird. Just open the Software store and search for Thunderbird.
By clicking on Thunderbird you will see the option to install the application
You can also install Thunderbird from Command line in Terminal by pushing the “ALT” and “T” keys at the same time.
sudo apt install thunderbird
If you are planning to use Thunderbird to connect to Exchange environment you want to install the Owl add-on as well. Owl is not free but if you are not able to use IMAP on your Exchange server this will connect Thunderbird to your Exchange via EWS or OWA. This will also enable your Calender as well.
If you are also looking for the Outlook way to write your emails you might want to install the ReplyWithHeader add-on as well. This is a free add-on that will give your emails the look and the feel of Outlook.
To install the add-on’s you should go to the add-on tab from the Thunderbird side menu and do a search for these
